Sunday 25 May 2008

this shall just be a really short post. i shall not steal jiehao's limelight. you all must go read his post okay! its a good account of what happened the past 2 tiring but fun days. =)

ANYWAY. just so all of you know, we've collected a grand total of
$1159
its like $159 more than our target and i must say you guys have really really put in commendable effort. i was still kinda worried sat morning that we might not be able to hit $1000. but it was really encouraging to see you guys really help in any way possible, even though you were all tired and stuff.
actually, i planned this cip really with the objective of benefitting the kids. but i'm sure you'll agree with me that all of us got to know at least a few of our classmates better just after this 2 days. its very nice to see that! =P
okay thats all i wanna say. ehh.. we'll have more fun k? we need to test out the games, ehh.. sometime next week.. heh.. surely that'll be less tiring and so more fun right? =D
haha.. okay! thanks a lot for being supportive once again! oh and care corner says 'a big thank you' too all of you as well. =)

:)

in my efforts to revive this blog, im taking the liberty to post on this blog, what i would post on my personal blog if i had one. but if any of the content causes any displeasure or discontentment, PLEASE tell me and I'll take note of it, but I wont remove it still..

of the class cip
the skeptic in me once doubted the point of a class cip, thinking that it probably would be too little, too late, if the aims of the cip even included that to unify the individuals in the class. But after the fund-raising phase of the activity, I've come to realize that my initial skepticism were largely irrelevant.

After this 2 days of newspaper-collection, I'm glad to say that they are probably the best days in this 2 years of class-life that I've experienced. So for now, a summary of the events, peppered with some of my thoughts. At the start, everyone (qualifier: myself included) were rather sluggish and thus rather slow in the collection and comments about the how the pile of newspapers was really small and stuff started flying, and thats probably true if you actually compared what we collected against what we thought we could collect.

But it wasnt long before we actually had more newspapers than we could handle, and thus had to send the first batch of newspapers to the recycling plant where we exchanged the 1.6 tonnes of waste paper for $459. Whilst zhiyi, mingyi and myself went to the plant, the rest continued to toil at sembawang and by the time we got back, we were almost ready for a second trip to the plant with $320 worth of thrashy news :X And after the second trip, it concluded the day's collection.

It was good to see that everyone made themselves useful, with some tying the newspapers, others collecting more, and some even evolving into lift-ladies. From what I saw, even the tired continued to chip in what increasingly little they could (as LDMR dictates) and I suppose thats more than what the organisers can ask for. And fittingly,  towards the end of the day, as lethargy overrode all other emotions and enthusiasm that we had, that feeling was sort of conveyed in the weather, sluggish and dull. Oh regarding, enthusiasm, that's debatable though, firstly because newspaper collection isnt something that most would be enthusiastic about, but on the other hand level of enthusiasm is often used as a yardstick to gauge how passionate you are about the greater cause. Uhm, never mind.....

Anyway, ditto the above, add in some more fun and sweat and viola, a summary of the second day.

Well I certainly had great fun during these 2 days and I've come to enjoy the company of those who went, and especially those who were exceptionally accommodating and understanding.  So to end it off, good job everyone and kudos to all, especially to anna, our cip rep, for a collection well planned,  and to everyone else, for a job well executed. Oh and special mention to jasmine, you've been a rather great host.

For now, let the pictures do the talking.
